Today I went to the “Dare to be Different” workshop, organised by Louise Kenworthy (Salford Enterprise Champion, Student Life Directorate, Careers & Employability) and led by Sarah Yorke, the Northern Region Development Manager of UnLtd*. Sarah introduced UnLtd*’s new award scheme “Social Entrepreneurship in HEIs“.
For me, it was good to learn about social entrepreneurship and several exemplary social entrepreneurship, including The Big Issue, Paul Wilson‘s Bike Creche, a start-up providing services to cyclists who cycle to the Media City.
I will inform students of the catalyst awards (up to £5,000); I think these awards are great opportunities for them to brainstorm new ideas and develop them further. UnLtd*’s website also provides some resources for networking and collaboration. Worth a look.
